The Honorable Governor of the Eastern Province and Chairman of the Sri Lanka Labor Congress Senthil Thondaman recently visited the Wakarei Adivasi village in Batticaloa to find out about the problems of the Adivasi people.
The tribals of Wakarai area said that their village has been facing various problems for many years.
They told the governor that there is a shortage of mathematics and science teachers in the schools of their village and therefore the students are in dire straits, the roads leading to the village are dilapidated and the hospital needs assistants.
At the request of the adivasis, two teachers were appointed to the school as soon as possible through the provincial education ministry, and the governor has instructed the relevant authorities to take steps to construct the road and appoint hospital assistants as soon as possible.
