Mayilathamudu Affair; Presidential officials tasked to provide an immediate solution

! Livestock farmers of Mayilathamadu and Madhavanai have reported that private encroachments have taken place on their grazing lands. A special discussion was held today in the Presidential Secretariat under the leadership of President Ranil Wickramasinghe regarding this issue while allegations have been being made for a few months. Governor of Eastern Province Senthil Thondaman, Secretary to the President, Government Ministers, Members of Parliament, Chancellor of the Exchequer, DG Mahavali, Inspector General of Police and Wildlife Officers participated in this discussion. Agriculture and animal husbandry are the backbone of this country. Both of these should be protected. The President instructed the authorities to provide alternative allocations to those who come from outlying districts and engage in agriculture in Batticaloa's Mylathamadu to farm in the districts that represent them. The president said that by providing alternative places, the problems of both the farmers and the farmers will end. The President also instructed the authorities to provide the required amount of assistance to feed the cattle until the problems of the farmers are resolved.
