නිල සංචාරයක් සඳහා මෙරටට පැමිණි වතිකානුවේ රාජ්‍ය සහ ජාත්‍යන්තර සංවිධාන සබඳතා පිළිබඳ ලේකම්, අගරදගුරු පෝල් රිචඩ් ගැලගර් හිමිපාණන් ජනාධිපති ලේකම් කාර්යාලයේදී අද (04) පෙරවරුවේ හමුවීමි. රට තුළ ආර්ථික සහ දේශපාලන ස්ථාවරත්වය ඇති කරමින් ශ්‍රී ලංකාව යළි යථා තත්ත්වයට ගෙන ඒමට රජය ගන්නා උත්සාහය බෙහෙවින් අගය කළ උන්වහන්සේ ආර්ථික ස්ථායීකරණයට මෙන්ම ජාතික සමගිය වර්ධනය කිරීමට ශ්‍රී ලංකාව දරන උත්සාහයන්ට වතිකානුවේ සහාය හිමි වන බවද ප්‍රකාශ කළහ. ශ්‍රී ලංකාව සහ වතිකානුව අතර අඩ සියවසක රාජ්‍යතාන්ත්‍රික සබඳතා මෙරටට බොහෝ ප්‍රතිලාභ අත්කර දී ඇති බවත්, එය අධ්‍යාත්මික වශයෙන් පමණක් නොව, රට තුළ මානව ගරුත්වය ප්‍රවර්ධනය කිරීමෙහිදීද ඉතා වැදගත් වූ බවත් මෙහිදී සඳහන් කළ මම ඒ වෙනුවෙන් කෘතඥතාව පළ කළෙමි. உத்தியோகபூர்வ விஜயம் மேற்கொண்டு இலங்கைக்கு வருகை தந்துள்ள வத்திக்கானின் நாடுகள் மற்றும் சர்வதேச அமைப்புகளுடனான உறவுகளுக்கான செயலாளர் பேராயர் போல் ரிச்சர்ட் கல்லாகர் அவர்களை இன்று (04) முற்பகல் ஜனாதிபதி செயலகத்தில் சந்தித்தேன். நாட்டில் பொருளாதார மற்றும் அரசியல் ஸ்திரத்தன்மையை நிலைநாட்டுவதன் மூலம் இலங்கையை மீண்டும் இயல்பு நிலைக்கு கொண்டுவர அரசாங்கம் மேற்கொள்ளும் முயற்சிகளை அவர் மிகவும் பாராட்டியதுடன், பொருளாதாரத்தை உறுதிப்படுத்தவும் தேசிய ஒற்றுமையை மேம்படுத்தவும் இலங்கை மேற்கொள்ளும் முயற்சிகளுக்கு வத்திக்கான் ஆதரவளிக்கும் என்றும் தெரிவித்தார். இலங்கைக்கும் வத்திக்கானுக்கும் இடையிலான அரை நூற்றாண்டு கால இராஜதந்திர உறவுகள் இந்நாட்டிற்கு பல நன்மைகளைத் பெற்றுத் தந்துள்ளது என்றும், அது ஆன்மீக ரீதியானது மட்டுமன்றி, நாட்டில் மனித கண்ணியத்தை மேம்படுத்துவதில் மிகவும் முக்கியமானதாக அமைந்ததாக இங்கு நான் குறிப்பிட்டதுடன் அதற்காக நன்றி தெரிவித்தேன். , met with me this morning (04) at the Presidential Secretariat. His Eminence highly appreciated the Government’s efforts to restore normalcy in the country by establishing economic and political stability. He further stated that the Vatican would continue to support Sri Lanka’s endeavours to strengthen economic stabilisation as well as to promote national harmony. Also expressed gratitude, noting that the fifty years of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and the Vatican have brought many benefits to the country, not only spiritually, but also by playing a significant role in the advancement of human dignity within the nation.
